FanSided NFL Mock Draft: Houston Texans Select Jadeveon Clowney

We are running through our FanSided NFL Mock draft at the moment. This is where the editors around the network make the selections for their teams. We will be publishing the entire mock when it is complete on this site and will post each selection individually as they come in as well.

With the 1st pick in the NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select…

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

Selection made by Stephen Forsha, Editor of Toro Times

Here is Forsha’s feedback on the selection:

Like many have said, Jadeveon Clowney is a once in 20-year talent. I can’t get over the potential that he can bring to the Texans defense, opposite of J.J. Watt, and having Brian Cushing back playing at linebacker.

The NFL has proven that you win championships with the best defense. Two of the best teams in the NFL (49ers, Seahawks) rebuilt their franchises with defense first, then they built their offense.

The Texans need to do the same thing here by drafting Clowney No. 1 overall, he’s too good of a talent to pass up.
