    Blake Bortles
    Quarterback, University of Central Florida

Yes, I am predicting a Quarterback to be picked number one in this year’s draft. And here is why:

First of all, a pick used on DE Jadeveon Clowney would be a wasted pick. I understand that the skills and athletic ability Clowney brings to the table are absolutely unheard of for a player of his caliber. I understand that the Texans do need some added help on the defensive line and pass rush. But at the same time I understand that currently the Texans’ only quarterback option right now is sophomore QB and University of Houston graduate Case Keenum. Last year Keenum was okay, but not great. This draft is loaded with Quarterbacking talent and it would be a shame to see said talent go by the wayside. Am I convinced that Bortles is first overall pick material? Not quite yet (then again who else is?). However, Bortles has the most potential and best career going for him in the draft as a whole. Compared with QBs Johnny Manziel, Derek Carr and Teddy Bridgewater, Bortles has a little bit of everything. He has relatively fast speed, great arm strength, efficient accuracy and great size and vision. What Bortles also has that is important is needed experience and leadership. By taking the Golden Knights to a Fiesta Bowl Victory over the Baylor Bears in dramatic fashion.

I understand that everybody is slobbering over the physical talents and achievements of Jadeveon Clowney, however I believe that with the amount of QB talent in this draft and Houston’s need for a solid QB, Bortles is perhaps the best option right now for the Texans in the long run.
