Arizona Cardinals select: Deone Bucannon

As the first round of the 2014 starts to wind down, the Arizona Cardinals decide to go with the defensive side of the ball by selecting Deone Bucannon with the 27th pick in the draft. Bucannon was third in the nation last season with 78 solo tackles and the Cards are certainly hoping that those stats can carry over to the next level.

Bucannon is a natural safety, but can play the nickleback position rather well. He will compliment Tyrann Mathiu very well because they both share the same style of play. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in his physical play. You would only have to watch a few seconds of his highlight tape for you to see that Bucannon can lay down the boom. He will need to play at that same high paced, physical level when he gets to Arizona because he will have to play in the wild, wild NFC West. It will be an interesting ride for Bucannon and the Cards, but a smart pick nonetheless.
