Carolina Panthers add Kelvin Benjamin

After losing the backbone to their wide receiving corps in Steve Smith due to free agency, the Carolina Panthers decide to add a tall, physical receiver in Kelvin Benjamin with the 28th pick in the draft. Benjamin is best known for his game-winning touchdown catch in the National Championship game against Auburn.

Benjamin has sure hands and he uses is size to go up and snag passes while in the red zone. The Panthers and quarterback Cam Newton desperately needed a wide receiver and they picked up a good one here late in the first round. With the weak receiving unit the Panthers have, Benjamin has the opportunity to be the number two or even the number on guy going into the start of the season. He has raw talent and a lot of upside that he brings to the table.

The potential is there for the Florida State star, let’s hope for his (and the Panthers) sake that he lives up to the hype.
