Carolina Panthers DE Greg Hardy facing misdemeanor charges

Carolina Panthers DE Greg Hardy us facing misdemeanor charges of communicating threats and assault on a female, according to warrants files Tuesday by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Hardy tied the Panthers franchise record for sacks last season and was given the franchise tag for the year. The team would love to lock him in for a long-term deal, but the franchise tag will have to keep him around for a season.

It will be interesting to see how this whole thing turns out and how it will affect his contract status. I am sure that the team will still be looking to lock him in for a while.

The team did issue a statement:

“We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate,” the Panthers said in a statement. – Charlotte Observer

We will have to see what happens with these allegations. The investigation is still incomplete, so we can’t rush to our judgements on him and the situation.

“You are innocent until you have been proven guilty”, but that does not mean you are smart ? What a stupid thing to get involved in.
