Robert Mathis suspended 4 games for PEDs

Indianapolis Colts DE Robert Mathis has been suspended for four games for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse. Still not aware of what substance he was using, but that is a blow to the Indianapolis Colts and a little blow to Mathis and the reputation that he has built around the league with the fans.

Mathis finished last season with 19.5 sacks to lead the league. It was the most in his career and his previous high was 11.5 sacxks in 2005. That seems to be a little bit of a jump for the Pro Bowler.

It will be interesting to see how this is received by the fans. Mathis is a fan favorite, but this one hurts a bit. That spike in production is a bit curious. We all know that he can get after the quarterback, but did he have a little help getting after them last season.

The Colts will have to move on without him for the first quarter of the season and find a different way to get after the quarterback.
