According to Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas, Johnny Manziel has done a good job of keeping his mouth shut and playing the role of a rookie. That seems like an amazing accomplishment for the rookie. Manziel is flamboyant and wants the attention from the fans and from everyone around him, but he is in camp and handling everything the right way to this point.
Manziel is 3rd on the depth chart and the team is making him earn his stripes. He has to get into the playbook and battle for that starting job.
Brian Hoyer is not going to lay down and give that job up to him. The fans might want to see Manziel in a hurry, but Hoyer will be doing everything he can in order to delay the first start for Manziel.
The reports from Manziel at OTAs have been good so far. The veterans are giving him more respect for the way he is approaching the job and he has handled everything well. Can’t wait to see the kid on the field handling the offense. It should be fun to watch him running around.
