Minnesota Vikings have not given up on Christian Ponder

The Minnesota Vikings drafted Teddy Bridgewater in the first round of the draft and also brought back Matt Cassel in the offseason, but the team is saying that they have not given up on Christian Ponder yet. Ponder was taken in the first round of the draft a while back, but he has not lived up to the expectations that people had of him.

The team might not be saying that Ponder is out of the competition for the starting job, but they are going to do whatever they can to get the job to Bridgewater. Bridgewater is the team’s future. The team moved up in the draft in order to select him and Norv Turner really wanted to add him onto the roster. Turner’s reputation will be on the line with the development of Bridgewater.

Ponder might still have a chance, but it will only be when Bridgewater and Cassel fail to step up.

That is crazy to say that Bridgewater is the teams future. You draft the players and let them compete and whomever is best plays. It’s called the teams present. Of course you groom players for better future play, but you live in the “now”. Who knows Matt Cassel, or CP7 could jump up and play at an offensive MVP level under Norve Turner, and win multiple SuperBowls. Teddy may still be the Future….but when? Just let them play and see who is the best at implementing Norve’s game plan.
