Vernon Davis is dipping out from OTAs right now because he isn’t too happy with his contract. He wants a new deal and when people are not stoked about their current deal, they sit out in order to show their dissatisfaction. Davis is dipping out of OTAs and forfeiting a workout bonus that he could have received if he showed up.

I don’t know if he will be able to get a new deal though. He still has a couple of years on his contract and is still owed $9 million on that deal. The team has other players on the roster that they have to worry about at this time as well. Colin Kaepernick is looking for a new deal at the moment and he likely will be the team’s top priority to get signed to a new contract. After his deal is done, the team can use the leftovers for the other players around the roster. Davis would be one of those other players.

He is still a playmaker and still a threat on the field, but after his deal is complete in a couple of seasons, will he still be that type of threat? Will he still demand that type of money?
