The San Francisco 49’ers and star quarterback Colin Kaepernick have agreed on a contract extension that will keep the twenty-six year old quarterback in San Francisco for the next six year’s. The extension, which will keep the Niner’s locked with Kaepernick through 2020, is reportedly worth over $110 million dollars. ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reports that the deal could guarantee Kaepernick up to sixty-one million in guaranteed money. The extension put’s Colin Kaepernick in the top ten as far as salaries for quarterbacks.
Throughout his first couple of seasons in the National Football League, Kaepernick has arguably been the most productive dual threat quarterbacks. In the past two season’s he has rushed for nearly 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns, while throwing thirty-one touchdowns and just eleven interceptions.
With Colin Kaepernick now locked up, the 49’ers can look forward to the start of the regular season. As far as off the field player issues, the Niner’s had a tumultuous offseason. This deal gives the organization something to look forward to, as they seek their fourth straight conference championship appearance and their second Super Bowl trip in four years.
