Mike Pettine not happy about Josh Gordon's effort in practice

The Cleveland Browns are not sure if they will have Josh Gordon for the entire season with his pending suspension. They are also concerned about his practice habits.

Head coach Mike Pettine was not happy about the effort that he saw out of his star wide receiver. Here are his comments from NFL.com:

“It is something we’ve talked about and from what I understand he’s made some improvement, but it is a work in progress,” Pettine said, per The Plain Dealer. “I’m a big believer in quality of reps versus quantity of reps. If I’m a player and I know that I’m going to be out there for 40 full-speed team snaps I may have a tendency to pace myself.”

“There still needs to be improvement there but we’re aware of it.”

Pettine wants his players to be putting in the effort during practice and are not just going through the motions. I love that Pettine is not afraid of critiquing his star player in front of everyone. Everyone on the team is accountable for their effort and Pettine is not afraid to put his guys on blast.

Maybe Gordon is just high. Too concerned with his munchies to go all out in practice. That’s a logical explanation where he is concerned right?
