New York Giants LB Jon Beason was taken off of the practice field on a cart today, according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports. It is still OTAs and there is not supposed to be any contact on the field, but that doesn’t mean that players can’t get injured running around in shorts. Dallas Cowboys LB Sean Lee injured himself earlier in OTAs and could miss the entire season with that injury.

Beason was brought over last season in a trade with the Carolina Panthers and helped bring some stability to the middle of the defense. He re-signed with the Giants this offseason after having a strong performance with the team. Last season, he finished the year with 93 tackles and an interception in a Giants uniform.

When players are taken off of the field on a cart, everyone fears the worst.  Let’s hope that Beason is good and will not have to miss significant time with this injury. If he were to miss any significant time during the season, it would be a big time blow for the Giants defense.
