New York Giants LB Jon Beason broke his foot; 12 week recovery

New York Giants LB Jon Beason was taken off on a cart during practice yesterday and fans and teammates were holding their breath. Today, the team found out that Beason has a sesemoid fracture in his right foot, according to NFL Network reporter Kimberly Jones. Basically, Beason has a broken foot. He will need surgery and the recovery time is 12 weeks.

That is going to a blow for the Giants defense. The 12 week recovery time will leak into the regular season. Beason could be placed on the PUP list to start out the season and then be brought back onto the roster after week 6, but the team will need to find someone to replace him in the middle of the defense.

The Giants traded for Beason least season and he brought some stability to the middle of their defense. He played well and earned a new contract this offseason. Now the team will be looking to find another body to lock down the middle for some time.
