Earl Bennett released by Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have released WR Earl Bennett. That was a quick stay with the Browns. He didn’t even last longer than Miles Austin and Austin hasn’t even gotten on the field yet. He didn’t even get to training camp!

I wonder what Bennett did to get released so quickly off of the roster. It is only the first day of mandatory minicamp! He had to have done something stupid…. right?  Or he just showed the team that he has nothing in the gas tank and he is not worth the time to wait for.

Bennett was signed this offseason after he was released by the Chicago Bears. He was supposed to bring a veteran presence onto the roster and help build up the Browns offense. He won’t be counted on to be that guy any longer. I just wonder what he did or didn’t do in order to be released so quickly. Will he find a new roster after this quick release? I am sure that some team will want to bring in the veteran to see how he can help their team…. maybe.
