News broke on the Buffalo Bills losing their star LB Kiko Alonso for the season with an ACL injury yesterday. Now they are looking for someone to step into his spot on the defense to fill the large gap that he has left. A player that they could be depending on is rookie LB Preston Brown, per Buffalo News.

Brown was drafted in the 3rd round out of Louisville this offseason. He has impressed the staff with his work early in minicamps and he could be thrown into the mix immediately. Alonso had success as a rookie in the middle of the Bills defense and the team could be looking at another rookie to make some noise again.

Brown had a successful college career, being one of the few players to have 300+ tackles that entered the NFL draft. He is strong against the run and likes to play downhill. He is aggressive, but may struggle against the passing game and in a zone defense.

Watch Brown’s progression in training camp and during preseason. He will need to make his presence felt to take that starting role. There are other vets on the roster that would love to lock down the position, but the team would likely rather give the opportunity to a future star.
