Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson ready for camp

The Jacksonville Jaguars could have one of the more dangerous wide receiver trios in the league, even if Ace Sanders does get slapped with a four-game suspension. Cecil Shorts III is quietly one of the top weapons in the game, and he has two new faces next to him in talented rookies Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson, who could prove to be steals from one of the deepest WR draft classes in recent memory. Both Lee and Robinson have exceptional physical tools and could have easily ended up being first-round picks. In fact, it was a surprise to see Lee fall outside of the first round, but injury and drops concerns played their role in that.

  • Lee was spotted in a walking boot last month with a right ankle injury, but that doesn’t appear to be an issue heading into training camp. According to Jaguars official site beat writer John Oehser, Lee stated that he’s “pretty much cleared”, “I’m pretty much cleared. They still want me to take it slow as far as right now. During camp, that’s when I pick it up. We’ve got a while before we actually put on pads, so by that time pads come on, I should be OK.”

He’ll be fine going forward, especially since the Jaguars are taking things slow in camp anyway. Robinson is also good-to-go after dealing with a hamstring issue earlier this offseason, which caused him to miss just a few weeks in June. He said, “I think me and the trainers have a good game plan going into that, and I feel like I did it pretty well. I feel good. I feel ready. We practice Friday and I’m cleared to go. You’ve always got to be smart and take care of your body, but as far as on-field stuff, I’m ready to go.”

Robinson has enormous upside with the physical tools to be a No. 1 receiver, but he’s also a raw prospect at 20. He isn’t expected to make a big impact as a rookie, but he should make his presence felt and could make a huge impact down the road.
