The Oakland Raiders plan on releasing 9-year veteran linebacker Kevin Burnett today after he failed his physical, per NFL.com. He was going to compete for the starting job at the weakside linebacker spot, but will have to find a new role instead. The weakside linebacker job is now Sio Moore’s to lose.

With Burnett off of the books, the Raiders will save over $3 million in salary cap space.

Burnett is a solid veteran that can be plugged into a starting role for some team. A team that is in need of some help should look in his direction to fill a role.

Maybe the New York Giants should look at the linebacker to give the team some quality reps. The Dallas Cowboys are another team that will be looking for help in the middle of their defense with the injury to Sean Lee.

Burnett would make a nice fit for some of those teams. They are desperate and he can fill their need.
