Ray Rice to be suspended for two games?

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is facing a suspension after assaulting his wife, and he’s fully expected to be suspended by the league for a few games. Projections for his suspension have a broad range, but I think four games would be an appropriate suspension for the Ravens feature back.

  • Yahoo! Sports’s Rand Getlin tweets that he’s “hearing” Rice will be suspended for two games, but it’s important to note that he hasn’t been able to confirm how long Rice will be suspended. Getlin finishes the tweet by telling us that he’ll update this when he gets more information, but it’s still worth passing along.

If Rice is only slapped with a two-game ban, then that would be on the very low end of the predictions for the length of his suspension. Rice deserves to get hit with at least a three-game ban, and the Ravens have Bernard Pierce to fill in while Rice is out. With a more stout offensive line in front of him, Rice should significantly improve his woeful 3.1 yards per carry average, and he’ll also be more healthy next season. That said, most people believe that Rice’s days as one of the NFL’s top ten backs is over, so he will head into the season with a suspension and plenty of questions to answer.
