Kansas City Chiefs LB Joe Mays is going to have wrist surgery after suffering an injury last week against the Carolina Panthers, per Adam Caplan. The timetable for his return to the field has not been determined at this time. He signed a 2 year deal in March to be the starting middle linebacker and may have to miss some time to recover from the injury.

With Mays on the sideline, the Chiefs will have to find someone to fill his spot in the middle of the defense. Josh Mauga is the next man up on the depth chart, but the competition will heat up.
Injuries in preseason action sucks! Hopefully Mays will not have to miss a ton of time because of the surgery. That is an interesting injury to work with though. I am pretty sure that you would want your wrists when working against offensive linemen and tackling. Seems to be fairly important for linebackers and for all players on the field.
