DE Michael Sam was unable to cut it with the St. Louis Rams out of training camp, but he was able to show his ability to make plays and was able to get some attention from the rest of the league with his performance in preseason. Today, he signed on with the Dallas Cowboys on their practice squad, per Rowan Kavner. He is not on the full 53-man roster at this point, but that could be happening soon.

The Cowboys are looking for some help on their defensive squad and could use some pass rushing abilities that Sam can provide. By signing him on the practice squad, it will allow him to get familiar with his teammates and with the playbook. He will not be eligible to play in the games yet, but it will get him some experience and get him closer to the field.

With him on the practice squad, other teams still can add him onto their 53-man roster if they sign him to a deal. The Cowboys are not afraid of the attention that he is going to bring to the team and into the stands. I could see him on the field fairly soon for the Cowboys.
