Cincinnati Bengals sign Devon Still to active roster

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still is one of the league’s most inspiring players, as all the proceeds from his jersey sales go to pediatric cancer research, which has led his jersey to be the best-selling one in Bengals history. Still, Still wasn’t on the Bengals active 53-man roster today, as his high-profile agent Drew Rosenhaus tweeted that the former Penn State star has been signed to the actual roster today after previously being on the practice squad.

The Bengals released Still during the 53-man roster crunchdown, and it was a surprise to see the former second-round pick clear waivers, especially since he isn’t short on talent. That was great news for the Bengals, of course, because they were able to add him to the practice squad and have now put him back where he belongs on the roster.

The Bengals had a roster spot already made for a DT (they wanted Kevin Vickerson, but he chose his old rival in the Kansas City Chiefs following Mike DeVito’s crushing, season-ending injury) and Still, who could be sent back to the practice squad at any moment in time, has filled it. While Still has had a disappointing start to his career with just a half-a-sack in two seasons, he seems like an amazing person and has the talent to become a solid player in this league. He’s heading into his third year, which is usually the most critical one for players.
