Tavon Austin Injury: St. Louis Rams WR questionable to return

facebooktwitterreddit

The St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 2 contest has been delayed due to lighting issues, and the score stands at 7-7 after rushing touchdowns from Zac Stacy and Josh McCown. Austin Davis is starting for Shaun Hill today, though Hill is active despite once being a toss-up due to a thigh injury. Both the veteran’s lack of health and poor play last week have caused Davis to start, as Davis was better last week and is currently 5-7 with 47 yards in the early going today.

  • It’s been an awful year for the Rams on the injury front with Sam Bradford on the injured reserve and Chris Long on the short-term IR, so they are hoping that they won’t sustain another significant injury. That said, slot receiver Tavon Austin did leave today’s game with a knee injury after being tackled on an incomplete pass (his lone target) by Buccaneers physically gifted safety Mark Barron.

According to Buccaneers official site writer Scott Smith, Austin is questionable to return with this knee injury, so the good thing is that the Rams haven’t ruled him out yet. That said, knee injuries are always disconcerting, and there’s a chance this could turn into a significant injury for Austin, who is looking to make good on his first-round potential. Last week, the former West Virginia star had a pretty quiet game with just three receptions for 34 yards and five yards on three rushes.
