Matt Ryan shreds Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting Larry English, for early TD
Atlanta Falcons star quarterback Matt Ryan was our “Player of the Week” in Week 1 for his incredible performance against the rival New Orleans Saints, as he was the main reason why the Falcons pulled out a 37-34 overtime victory. But in Week 2, Ryan put up a real clunker of a performance in 24-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tonight in front of a national audience, the former Boston College standout has a great shot at putting up monster numbers, as the Falcons are taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Georgia Dome, where Ryan is notoriously awesome. The Buccaneers are playing without star defensive lineman Gerald McCoy, and former first-round bust Larry English actually lined up as a starter at DE.
It could be a long day for the Bucs if the Falcons first drive was any indication, as Ryan shredded an undisciplined Bucs team in coverage and in the tackle to the tune of a perfect 4-4 drive that yielded 58 yards on those four throws. He capped things off with a three-yard TD to Harry Douglas, with 39 of his receiving yards going to superstar wideout Julio Jones. Josh McCown can’t match that kind of brutal efficiency, so the Bucs have to tighten up if they want to win this game against an NFC South rival on TNF.
