A.J. Green, Vontaze Burfict Injury Updates

Cincinnati Bengals superstar wide receiver A.J. Green suffered a toe injury in the team’s easy 24-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, and the injury was an aggravation of a prior foot injury that caused him to be listed on the team’s Week 2 injury report. Although Green missed practice on Wednesday, he returned to a limited practice on Thursday and was never in doubt for this week’s game against Jason McCourty, who is listed questionable, and the Tennessee Titans.

  • According to ESPN NFL Nation’s Coley Harvey, the Bengals are officially listing Green as questionable on the injury report, which further confirms that he’s a lock to play against the Titans. It’s a great matchup for Green and the Bengals, and this could be his best game yet if J-Mac is unable to play. There were some inklings of doubt regarding Green’s ability to play without limitations, but a “probable” listing certainly bodes well for his usage rate. But if things get out of hand in the Bengals favor, then it won’t matter where targets are concerned.

Although Green’s status is optimistic, star linebacker Vontaze Burfict has been listed doubtful this week. He was able to be cleared on gameday and play through a concussion against Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons, but it looks like he’s going to be out against the Titans. That shouldn’t be an issue given that the Bengals defense is considerably stronger than the Titans offense even without Burfict, but it’s troubling to see that a new concussion will most likely bounce him out this week; players listed doubtful rarely ever suit up. Vincent Rey figures to get the start, and he’s also a dangerous playmaking LB.
