Jamaal Charles Injury: Kansas City Chiefs RB has ‘real chance’ of playing
Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles once seemed like a lock to miss this week’s game and a couple of more games, because Chiefs head coach Andy Reid hinted that his best offensive player had suffered a high-ankle sprain in their loss to the rival Denver Broncos. That clearly isn’t the case, because Charles was able to return to practice on Thursday, and this would have been impossible had he suffered an actual high-ankle sprain.

We now have some clarity on the nature of his injury, as the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Charles’s injury is more of a “bruise” as opposed to an actual high-ankle sprain. Charles is still going to be a toss-up as a game-time decision for today’s game against the Miami Dolphins, but Rapoport adds that the superstar back has a “real chance” at suiting up today.
Fantasy owners will be anxiously watching his status, but I expect the Chiefs to siphon some carries to talented No. 2 RB Knile Davis in order to avoid overworking Charles, who is still likely in pain. For those owning Davis, I would tentatively bench him if you have better options, because I don’t think he’ll get enough touches to justify playing. Without many details, playing either one of them is a risk, but you might have to do it if you are pressed at the running back position.
