New York Giants Jon Beason travels with team

New York Giants middle linebacker Jon Beason has been listed doubtful for tomorrow night’s rivalry battle with the Washington Redskins, as he aggravated a significant offseason injury and still doesn’t seem to have a concrete timetable. Beason, of course, missed last week’s win over the Houston Texans, and he’s never been expected to play against the Redskins tomorrow.

  • However, despite his doubtful listing on the Giants injury report, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that Beason has traveled with the team to Washington, thus keeping him in contention to play. As a general rule, players who are listed doubtful are essentially “out”, but they are key players so the team doesn’t want to rule them out. Beason has an incredibly long shot at suiting up, but we’ll have to monitor his status until he is formally ruled out by the Giants tomorrow or plays.

Beason recorded four tackles and no other stats in each of the first two games this season, and he has been a key leader at the heart of the Giants defense ever since coming over in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. The deal made sense for both sides, and it’s worked out well for the Giants, especially since they were desperate for linebacker help at that point last year.
