Todd Gurley faster and more agile than Eddie Lacy?

Georgia Bulldogs superstar running back Todd Gurley has been one of the best player’s in the nation for quite some time, and there’s no doubt that he’s the class of all of the talented running backs in college football. That’s not something to be taken lightly either, because Gurley’s universally-recognized greatness puts him above other impressive draft prospects such as Miami’s Duke Johnson, Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon, and Nebraska’s beastly Ameer Abdullah. There should be multiple first-round running backs taken in the 2015 NFL Draft, and there’s no doubt that Gurley will be the first one taken.

Comparing excellent college football players to NFL stars is one of the most common practices in draft circles, but it’s so difficult to give Gurley an apt comparison. We’ve heard the likes of Eddie George and Marshawn Lynch as comps for the Georgia workhorse, but he’s such a unique talent that he blends traits from great RBs.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller is one of the best draft analysts in the business, and he was asked today if Green Bay Packers feature back Eddie Lacy is an appropriate pro comparison for Gurley’s game. Miller replied that the 232-pound RB is faster and more agile than Lacy, and those are two statements that the vast majority of people would agree with. The Lacy suggestion isn’t a new comparison for Gurley, who has even been compared to legends of the past and Adrian Peterson, and it’s becoming clear to me that Gurley transcends these comps. He has some AP and Lynch to his game, but there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s a special, unique talent; I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.

By the way, Gurley currently has over 200 rushing yards with two TDs against the Tennessee Volunteers, and it’s more proof of his greatness; you can easily build a team around him.
