Jordan Reed Injury: TE does not participate in individual drills

Washington Redskins star tight end Jordan Reed is quickly earning a reputation for being one of the more injury prone players in the league, which is sad considering how exceptionally talented he is. Reed missed seven games last season, most notably with a concussion that ended his year prematurely, and he’s already missed three games in 2014 due to a nagging hamstring injury.

  • Although Reed was initially expected to make his return for the Monday Night Football contest against Kam Chancellor and the Seattle Seahawks, it looks like he isn’t expected to suit up. According to ESPN 980’s Chris Russell, Reed wasn’t even able to participate in individual drills today, and that’s a very disappointing development. Per Russell, the “ship sailed yesterday” when it comes to Reed playing this week, so nobody should hold out hope for him to suit up against the Seahawks.

Reed slipped from an expect, to a 50-50, to an unexpected play for MNF, and it means that the rising Niles Paul will continue to get big opportunities in the passing game. Paul is expected to play despite suffering a concussion, and he’ll, of course, need to be at his best against Seattle. As for Reed, we can only hope the supremely gifted “move” TE can get back on track, because he’s a special talent who totaled just one catch for four yards in his lone appearance this year due to the hamstring injury.
