Pittsburgh Steelers Jarvis Jones has cast removed

Pittsburgh Steelers talented second-year outside linebacker Jarvis Jones suffered a severe wrist injury in the team’s Week 3 blowout victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday Night Football, and his major injury wasn’t the only big blow for the Steelers on what would have otherwise been a spectacular night for the team. Jones was placed on the short-term injured reserve after it was learned that he would require surgery to repair his injured right wrist.

  • Jones isn’t eligible to return until Week 12, but today we’ve received some good news indicating that he could make his return sooner rather than later (he can return any time after Week 12, so the Steelers can take as much time as they need if the injury takes longer to heal). According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Jones had the cast removed from his right wrist, so this is a positive development worth keeping in mind going forward.

We won’t be able to gauge how far along Jones is in his recovery until later, but, again, this can only be a good sign. In three appearances this season, the touted Georgia Bulldogs product has recorded 14 tackles and two sacks with a forced fumble, but, with only 17 appearances under his belt, we don’t have enough tape on him (particularly recent tape) to get a true understanding of where he is at.
