Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush Injury Updates: Lions stars inactive

facebooktwitterreddit

Detroit Lions star wide receiver Calvin Johnson was never expected to play in today’s game against the rival Minnesota Vikings, as he aggravating an ankle injury in last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Johnson struggled with that injury for a couple of weeks before the aggravation, and the smart money was always one the Lions holding him out of today’s game. He was officially listed doubtful on the team’s injury report, and the Lions have indeed ruled him inactive today despite an unlikely appearance on the stationary bike.

  • Golden Tate has a huge chance to have another dominant performance today with Johnson out, but it will be interesting to see if other receivers can emerge against a Vikings pass defense that Matthew Stafford and the offense shouldn’t have trouble beating.

Lions star running back Reggie Bush was listed questionable with an ankle injury after not being able to practice, and he was also expected to be out today despite optimism on his part. Bush’s absence will give Joique Bell, who missed last week’s game against the Bills with a concussion, the start, and Theo Riddick and George Winn will get ample opportunities to show their stuff. Winn had nice a game last week with Bell and Riddick out, so he’s one to watch (everybody already knows about Riddick’s once-hidden talent).
