Montee Ball Injury: Denver Broncos RB out 3- 4 weeks

facebooktwitterreddit

The Denver Broncos reunion with Eric Decker, who is risking his hamstring injury again, should yield an easy victory for Peyton Manning and Co., as they don’t even need a strong running game in order to beat a Jets team that has been mired in a state of dysfunction over the past couple of weeks. Geno Smith can’t seem to prove his leadership or his ability to throw the football, and Decker’s injury has complicated things further for an offense that is still short on talent. Defensively, the Jets run defense should be able to hold down Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson, but they could easily allow 400 yards to the Broncos passing attack if their opponents are in the mood.

  • Broncos feature back Montee Ball went down with a groin injury in last week’s victory over the Arizona Cardinals, and he was initially expected to be out for 2-3 weeks despite talk that he has suffered a “major” injury.

Although the injury isn’t “major”, it looks like he will be out for a bit longer than initially expected, as FOX Sports’s Jay Glazer reports, via Rotoworld, that the second-year back out of Wisconsin separated his groin attachment from the bone and will miss 3-4 weeks. That gives Hillman and Anderson plenty of time to impress, and it isn’t inconceivable for Hillman to Wally Pipp Ball if he does well enough. While I don’t think it will happen, Ball was only averaging 3.1 yards per carry with just one TD before the injury, so, again, it isn’t impossible. While, from this perspective, Ball is more talented, Hillman, Anderson, and Juwan Thompson can’t be counted out.
