Tom Brady, Derek Carr ready to go

New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady looked as fired up as ever in last week’s blowout win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but it will be interesting to see if an injury to Bryan Stork and a date with Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams douses that fire. Brady struggled behind horrible blocking in Week 3 and Week 4, and the incompetence could be on full display with the woeful Jordan Devey slated to start at guard against an elite DT duo; it’s the interior pressure that prevented Brady from looking comfortable and like himself.

More from NFL

Brady was listed questionable on the team’s injury report with an ankle injury, but it was never expected to be an issue. The injury is real, though, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that he “rolled it” on an offensive lineman’s foot at Friday’s practice. That said, Schefter reported earlier today that Brady will, obviously, start, and a source told him more recently that it’s indeed “not an issue”. It’s everything we expected, but it’s nice to hear confirmation. For those of you saying that the Patriots made this injury up, why would they make it up this week instead of a different week? And if it is indeed legit, I wonder if the Bills will go harder after his ankle (Jim Schwartz seems like someone who love nothing more than to do that).

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is also good-to-go today, as the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the talented rookie QB “healed up” well over the bye week after being bounced out of the London drubbing against the Miami Dolphins. That game caused Dennis Allen to lose his job, so it will be interesting to see how Carr does under interim head coach Tony Sparano with today’s first game coming against the bitter rival San Diego Chargers.
