The Miami’s Dolphins offense suffered a huge loss this morning, placing running back Knowshon Moreno on injured reserve with a knee injury. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Moreno tore his ACL in the Dolphins 27-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Moreno, who signed a one-year deal worth a little over $1 million in guarantees, was signed to be Miami’s starting running back.

Moreno is coming off his best season as a pro. In 2013, he rushed for 1,038 yards and ten touchdowns. It appeared that Knowshon carried over his 2013 performance into this season, rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown in his first game in a Dolphins uniform.

Despite posting career high numbers, his journey back to the field will be a difficult one, as last Sunday could potentially be his last carry as a NFL back. Knowshon suffered through countless injuries during his career. In six seasons in the NFL, Moreno played all 16 games just twice. He also battled through an elbow injury suffered in week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, side lining him for four weeks.

This is the same ACL Moreno tore back in 2011.

Fortunately for Miami, their running game has been a lot more effective than last season, ranking sixth in the NFL. Starting back Lamar Miller currently ranks 3rd in the league among back at 5.2 yards per carry.
