A.J. Green Injury: WR not practicing today

Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green unsurprisingly missed last week’s game against the Carolina Panthers with a toe injury that he aggravated during practice earlier that week, and his status for this week’s big game against the Indianapolis Colts is totally up-in-the-air. The Bengals are leaving the door open for Green to play this week, but it’s unclear if he’ll be healthy enough.

More from Cincinnati Bengals

As expected, Bengals official site writer Geoff Hobson reports that Green was not spotted at practice today, and it’s possible we won’t know his true practice status on Friday. It’s difficult to envision him practicing tomorrow, and I’m not sure if the Bengals will feel comfortable enough playing their star if he is only able to practice once this week.

It’s obviously a situation to watch for closely, especially since the Colts actually have a shutdown corner in Vontae Davis who can deal with Mohamed Sanu (though he isn’t necessarily used in a “shutdown” role by the Colts). Sanu looked awesome against the Carolina Panthers, but the Bengals will probably have to continue to click on offense in order to keep up with the Colts. There are plenty of nuances here, but it’s best to tentatively expect the star receiver to sit out a second straight week.
