C.J. Spiller, Jermaine Gresham, Chris Givens Trade Rumors

Buffalo Bills star running back C.J. Spiller is a hot name on the trade rumor mill, and trade news is certainly heating up after Friday’s blockbuster deal that sent Percy Harvin from the Seattle Seahawks to the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional mid-round pick. Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Vincent Jackson has already generated interest from plenty of teams despite not being shopped by GM Jason Licht, but Spiller sounds like the household name with the biggest chance of making a move.

More from Los Angeles Rams

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Dallas Cowboys had some early interest in acquiring Spiller last season, likely as a complement to DeMarco Murray, unless if they really disrespected their top back that much. Rapoport reports that Spiller, who is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry and desperately needs a change of scenery, will be in trade talks this season, especially since he is in a contract year.

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham is currently starting with second-year pro Tyler Eifert on the short-term injured reserve, and Rapoport also reports that he is another player in a contract year who could be traded, especially since he’ll be expendable once Eifert is back. Gresham has been criticized plenty of times and has been called a bust by some fans, but he’s a quality TE2 who can move the chains, though he has barely done anything for the Bengals so far this year.

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that St. Louis Rams falling deep threat Chris Givens, who is active today against the Seattle Seahawks, is another name to watch for as trade deadline rumors heat up. Givens has just four receptions this season, and he’s fallen out of favor big time after once being a sleeper in the Rams offense. Givens needs a change of scenery, but I’m not sure anyone is actually willing to ship out a pick for him.
