Jimmy Graham will play today

New Orleans Saints star tight end Jimmy Graham was expected to play today after suffering a shoulder injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the bye week, but he’s been fully expected to have a limited role today against the Detroit Lions. It’s a crucial game for the Saints, who need this kind of a marquee win in order to right the ship, as they were the NFL’s most disappointing team before the bye week. They have plenty of talent and great coaching, so the key is in their execution going forward.

More from New Orleans Saints

FOX Sports’s Jay Glazer reports that Graham stated he will play today against the Lions, and the star tight end added that he never even planned on testing out his shoulder before the game as a game-time decision, which initially seemed like the course of action. Glazer will feed us more information, including how Graham will be utilized today by the Saints. The expectation is that the team will use him like they did last year when he played through an injury- in critical situation such as red zone plays.

Per Rotoworld’s Evan Silva, ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reported that Graham is “determined to play”, and this surprises nobody; Graham is an incredibly tough and determined individual. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Saints second-most important player comes away with a fourth touchdown catch today, but we’ll wait for more info from Glazer.
