Michael Vick a mentor for Percy Harvin

Percy Harvin has had some character baggage at every stop in his career, as he was involved in multiple incidents in college, caused Leslie Frazier and the Minnesota Vikings trouble, and his issues with the Seattle Seahawks have been well-documented following the trade. Harvin fought with fellow wide receivers Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin, and he also refused to go back into last week’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, and this diva move was the final nail in the coffin.

More from New York Jets

The New York Jets are hoping that a change of scenery will do Harvin good, but not everyone in the team believes this will happen, and this isn’t a surprise. Harvin does things his own way, and that causes him to burn plenty of bridges.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Harvin talks to Jets backup quarterback Michael Vick each week and sees the former Philadelphia Eagles star as a mentor. Vick is one of the most popular players in the league and is extremely respected among his peers, as he is credited (or, in a way, self-credited) with saving Riley Cooper on the Eagles.

The Jets are hoping that Vick’s mentor status will aid Harvin in staying out of trouble under the incredible scrutiny of the New York media, as being ten minutes late to a meeting spells the coming of the apocalypse if you are a maligned quarterback but is a mere footnote if you are a struggling cornerback.
