Percy Harvin deal heated up after NY Jets loss

The Seattle Seahawks were looking to trade Percy Harvin for some time, but it seems like talks escalated when Harvin opted against going back into the game against the Dallas Cowboys after feeling burned by not being utilized enough. That’s a classic diva move, but it still pales in comparison to his fights with Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin, and the Seahawks simply felt that Harvin wasn’t worth the headache. They “lost” on the deal when you look at how much they initially spent on Harvin vs. how much they got out of the deal, but the Seahawks will be perfectly fine with things if Paul Richardson (or even someone else like Kevin Norwood) breaks out.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New York Jets might not have tried to acquire Harvin as hard if they managed to upset the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football, as Rapoport reports that talks between both sides “heated up” on Friday morning (the morning of the trade) following the 27-25 loss.

Harvin can give the Jets exactly what they need on offense, as he looks like an excellent complement for Eric Decker. If he stays healthy, out of trouble, and is utilized properly by Marty Mornhinweg and Geno Smith, then he could give the Jets offense a huge boon. With Decker and Harvin in the fold, the Jets finally have two fully legit stars and playmakers on their hands.
