Percy Harvin offered in deal for Jordan Cameron
Before the Seattle Seahawks traded Percy Harvin to the New York Jets for a conditional draft pick, they shopped the star wide receiver around and probably found the market to be less robust than expected. Harvin had problems in college and with the Minnesota Vikings, but it’s unclear if other teams new about his various fights and spats with Seahawks players and the coaching staff.

One of the most interesting trade scenarios occurred when Seahawks aggressive GM John Schneider called up Ray Farmer of the Cleveland Browns, asking for a deal involving star tight end Jordan Cameron. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports, via NFL.com’s Conor Orr, that the Seahawks tried to trade Harvin to the Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, and Browns (among others) but were rejected by all of these teams.
It’s interesting to hear Rapoport report that Schneider tried to get a Cameron-Harvin swap done, but it’s obvious why the Browns would reject that deal. Even though Cameron is in the final year of his deal, he’s a better and more consistent player than Harvin, and he doesn’t come with any of the baggage. Meanwhile, if the Seahawks could have somehow acquired him, they would have gotten away with an absolute steal. Cameron is exactly the kind of player who can take the Seahawks offense to new heights by giving them a reliable-yet-dynamic tight end.
