Philadelphia Eagles Evan Mathis cleared to practice

The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line was by far the best in the NFL last season, as Jason Peters, Jason Kelce, and left guard Evan Mathis were arguably the best players at their respective positions. In Mathis’s case, it’s pretty clear to me that there’s no argument, as even the likes of Josh Sitton and Marshal Yanda can’t match his ridiculous run blocking ability. Although he isn’t as powerful as Yanda, he has more than enough strength, and he beats Yanda with his awareness and technique. Again, these two players are great at everything, but Mathis is even better in those two facets.

  • Unfortunately for Nick Foles, LeSean McCoy, and the rest of the offense, injuries have caused the Eagles line to be a shell of its 2013 self. On the bright side, those pieces are finally returning to strength, which means the already-impressive Eagles are going to be pretty darn scary.

According to CSN Philly’s Reuben Frank, the Eagles are already getting Mathis back in the fold, as he has been cleared to practice and will be out there on the field when he’s eligible to practice on Wednesday. The Eagles, who are coming off of a bye, will face the Arizona Cardinals this week, but Mathis isn’t eligible to play until the team’s Week 10 battle with Charles Johnson, Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short, Luke Kuechly, and the Carolina Panthers.
