Colt McCoy set to start, RG3 game-time decision
The Washington Redskins are expected to hold Robert Griffin III through the team’s bye week, meaning that he isn’t expected to play until Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That said, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden continues to describe RG3’s progress as “steady”, so the fact that he hasn’t been ruled out has led to some speculating that he could be back this week. The Redskins have a big matchup on tap on Monday Night Football against the red-hot Dallas Cowboys, and having RG3 would give their offense a sizeable boost in talent.

That said, their franchise QB still needs some time, and it would obviously be wiser for them to err on the side of caution with a player who is dealing with another significant injury.
According to the NFL Network, Gruden stated that he is planning to start Colt McCoy this week against the Cowboys, and he added that he won’t make a decision on RG3 until 7:30 p.m., which is when the inactive lists are released. RG3 is going to be a game-time decision, but this is a technicality. He isn’t going to play this week, and I think the only way he plays against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9 is if McCoy plays incredibly poorly.
