On Sunday morning, we will have a couple of teams that are moving in the opposite meeting up in London to play an American football game. The Detroit Lions are struggling to put up points on the board, but have found ways to win behind their strong defense. The Atlanta Falcons are struggling to do anything right and are hoping that they can figure something out while they are in London. Hopefully playing in a new country can help them out.

They Falcons will catch a break with Calvin Johnson still nursing the ankle injury. Without Johnson on the field, the Lions offense isn’t as potent. They still have the talent of Golden Tate to throw to, but you can’t replace a player of Johnson’s caliber. Johnson isn’t officially out for the game at this point, but signs point to him taking another break.

The Falcons have talent on offense, but they are unable to get things rolling in the right direction with the mess they have on the offensive line. The defense is shaky as well. They need a lot of help.

Falcons head coach Mike Smith doesn’t care about all the injuries on his roster and doesn’t want to make any excuses.

"“We have nine games left and I know every man in that room and every coach in that room will work … this week to get prepared to play the Detroit Lions,” Smith said. – ESPN"

He has a lot of work that needs to get done. Winning against the Lions would be a huge step in the right direction. I just don’t  see it happening though.

Expect the Lions to leave this game with the win. They are hungry. Their defense is hungry and the offense has enough talent to get past the poor Falcons defense.

Lions 24 – Falcons 13
