Philadelphia Eagles Jason Kelce a game-time decision

Philadelphia Eagles star center Jason Kelce was listed questionable for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, but he was never expected to play and was unsurprisingly inactive. However, he is expected to return this week against the Houston Texans, though that expectation is only questionable, as he still technically a toss-up to play. Kelce has made quick progress from his sports hernia surgery, and his return would be huge for the Eagles; Kelce is one of the best and most athletic interior offensive linemen in the NFL.

  • According to the Eagles official Twitter account, Kelce stated that he will “push” himself to play this week against the Texans, but he added that he expects to be a game-time decision. Kelce was able to practice this week, and it looks like only a setback or caution from the Eagles would prevent him from playing this week. The Eagles don’t need him out there to beat the Texans, though his presence would obviously help.

Once the Eagles get Kelce and star left guard Evan Mathis back in the fold, their offensive line will be back on track, as both players are lynchpins on the line that was the league’s best last season. They will both help LeSean McCoy reach last season’s heights, and they’ll also help give Nick Foles more time to operate. After this week, the Eagles will face the Carolina Panthers on MNF and the Green Bay Packers.
