The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sending S Mark Barron to the St. Louis Rams for a 4th and 6th round draft selection.

The trading deadline has come and gone and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to give up on S Mark Barron and have shipped him off to the St. Louis Rams for a 4th and 6th round draft selection in 2015. Barron was selected 7th overall just a few year ago and now he is traded for some late round selections. He never lived up to the potential with the Bucs defense.

More from Los Angeles Rams

Barron struggled in coverage and the team could not find a spot for him on the roster. He is a run support player and a hard hitter, but the team already signed Dashon Goldson to the roster in free agency who has the same skill set.. There was not room for both of them on the team.

It was tough seeing both Goldson and Barron on the field at the same time since both are terrible in pass coverage. So the team made the move and will get some draft picks in exchange and the Buccaneers will start Keith Tandy at the free safety position. That will allow Godlson to play in the box more to defend against the run.

Barron will get an opportunity to work in the Rams defense and hopefully will flash the potential that he showed when he was getting drafted into the league. He looks to mak e the big hit and will look to knock some people out, but can’t cover at all. Will he fit with the Rams defense? The Rams didn’t give up much in order to bring him over and I am sure they saw some things that they liked from him. Let’s see what they can get out of him on the field.
