Golden Tate Playing at a Pro Bowl Level

WR Golden Tate chose to join the Detroit Lions so that he could move to a more pass friendly offense… and for the dollars of course, but he is benefiting from it now.

Golden Tate wanted to join a team that was going to let it fly on offense a little more. He jumped on board with the Detroit Lions and is getting the opportunity that he has been looking for. He was looking to join Calvin Johnson on the high flying offense, but Johnson has been slowed with injuries this season. With Johnson sidelined, it has opened up the opportunity for Tate to be the top playmaker on the team.

More from NFL

Tate is only 99 yards away from his career high in receiving yards and he has only played in 8 games this season. Through the first 8 games he has 800 yards receiving and would be on pace to have 1600 yards for the rest of the year. He has been a huge addition to the team with Johnson’s absence off of the roster.

As soon as Megatron returns to the field, Tate will be able to take away some of the attention from him and will be able to make plays on the opposite side. Imagine Johnson with less attention from the defense!

While Tate was with the Seattle Seahawks, he was able to win the Super Bowl, but that team operated differently on offense. They relied on their run game first and wanted to pound it with Marshawn Lynch. Tate took on a different role with that team and was looking to make blocks down the field and was looking to move chains.

Now Tate is a Pro Bowl level receiver. He has received the opportunity to catch more passes and has capitalized.
