Dallas Cowboys strong-side linebacker Bruce Carter missed some time with a quad injury, but he was able to return for last week’s Monday Night Football game against the rival Washington Redskins. Carter, who was once a favorite of the Cowboys coaching staff, failed to record any stats, but he does have 25 tackles, a sack, a pick-six, and four total passes defended here in his fourth season in the NFL.

According to Cowboys official site beat writer David Helman, Carter broke his ring finger during practice today, but he will tough it out and play though the injury instead of missing a week. Per Helman, Carter will simply put a splint on it and gut plays out. The Cowboys biggest injury worries are obviously focused on superstar QB Tony Romo, and they have a big game coming up this week against the Arizona Cardinals.

Having Carter out there will help the Cowboys contain Andre Ellington, who has been downright dynamic as a pass-catcher. The Cowboys linebackers will have to be at their best this week, especially since Justin Durant is done for the year. Carter’s broken finger comes just after he missed a few weeks with that aforementioned quad injury, so it will be interesting to see how he looks this week against Arizona.
