A.J. Green, Giovani Bernard Injury Updates

Cincinnati Bengals superstar wide receiver A.J. Green has missed the team’s past three games against the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Ravens with an aggravated toe injury, but he is finally set to return this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bengals could have held him out this week due to the light nature of their Week 9 opponent and the fact that they have a quick turn-around before facing a division rival on TNF in Week 10 in the Cleveland Browns.

According to Bengals official site beat writer Geoff Hobson, Green has been listed questionable on the team’s injury report, and he is indeed expected to play today. Green was expected to make his return this week ever since reports surfaced on Sunday, but that was never a guarantee. He still technically isn’t a lock to play against Jacksonville, but I would be surprised if he is held out.

Giovani Bernard, on the other hand, has officially been ruled out, per Hobson, with a hip pointer, and his status for the Week 10 battle with the Browns is uncertain, as head coach Marvin Lewis was noncommittal . Bernard suffered the injury in last week’s win over the Ravens, and it didn’t seem like the injury was overly serious. That said, he could miss a couple of weeks, and it was wise to hold him out this week; it gives him a better chance of playing in that more important Week 10 matchup with the Browns.
