A month into the season everyone in the room would have looked at you like you were certifiably insane if you said that Ben Roethlisberger had a legitimate chance at winning the 2014 AP MVP award. His team was 2-2 and his statistics were good, but definitely not at an MVP level. Fast forward to November and Big Ben is easily in the thick of the MVP discussion. Seriously, and he’s not only in the conversation — he’s taking it over.
More from Pittsburgh Steelers
- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie sleeper everyone should be talking about
- Kenny Pickett looks amazing going into year two for the Steelers
- 3 players the Pittsburgh Steelers gave up on way too soon
- Rest of NFL will regret letting Steelers land this steal of a rookie
- Steelers would be ideal landing spot for Caleb Williams, Drake Maye
I don’t want to fall victim to hyperbole, but what Roethlisberger is currently accomplishing (and who he’s doing it with) is nothing short of extraordinary. Yes, there are some other players that have put together jaw-dropping statistics in 2014, but Big Ben is right there with them all at this point. I’ve come up with a few reasons why he’s not just in the MVP conversation, but is in all actuality one of the favorites at this point of the season. Plus, he’s the NFL Spin Zone’s back-to-back Player of the Week.
Here are five reasons why Roethlisberger might just bring home the MVP award this year.
