Top 5 RB Performances of Week 10

While running back  committee´s make great individual performances rarer, week 10 still had some very strong performances by running backs, featuring one breakout performance. The first few were simple to choose, but to round out the top 5 was extremely difficult, and I think some will be surprised by one omission from this list.

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram

For me Mark Ingram was a clear-cut choice for his week 10 performance, as he faced a very stiff 49ers run defense and  still ran for 120 yards on 27 carries averaging 4.4 yards per carry. Ingram consistently got positive yardage throughout the entire game, although he did not break a run for over 11 yards or get into the end zone. He continues to impress in his contract year and will likely reap the benefits this coming offseason.

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett

Justin Forsett continues to surprise the NFL, as the 29-year-old journeyman has  another great performance for the Ravens. He burst through the Titans defense rushing for 112 yards on 20 rushes and 2 TDs. Forsett took advance of the weak Titans run defense, having a number of runs that were longer than 10 yards. Most of his success came over outside rushes, except for his longest run, which he took for 37 yards all the way to the 2 yard line.

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch

Lynch was the clear-cut No.1 pick for this week. Lynch went “beastmode” and ran to his best performance of the year and the best performance of any RB this week. Lynch punished the Giants defenders, bulldozing his way to 140 yards on 21 carries and a Career best 4 TD´s. Lynch led the Seahawks to a very important win and illustrated his value to the Seahawks. This offseason will be extremely interesting, since there  are many rumors about Lynch´s possible departure out of Seattle. Lynch, silent as always, is letting his play do the talking.

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson

This may be a surprising pick to many, but the rookie RB had a break out performance, in which he actually tied  Marshawn Lynch for the most total yards by an RB. Anderson ran for 90 yards on just 13 carries and had another 73 yards on 4 receptions. His highlight of the game was clearly his 51 yard reception that really shifted the momentum of the game. Anderson ran hard the entire game and took complete advantage of one of the weakest run defenses in the NFL. He will get the chance to assert himself into the Broncos offense these upcoming weeks, since Ronnie Hillman will be out for a while and Montee Ball is returning from injury and was not very impressive prior to that injury.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles

Jamaal Charles rounds out this list of five, for a similar reason as Mark Ingram. The Bills front is one of the stiffest defensive fronts in the NFL and Jamaal Charles exhibited his explosive skill set running for 98 yards on just 15 carries, highlighted by his 37 yard touchdown run on 4th down and 1. This was a game defining moment and Charles lived up to the moment. Charles will be a key factor for the chiefs during their attempt to make a playoff run for back to back years. It was surprising to see the Chiefs  give their star player only 18 touches in the tight game in Buffalo.

Like I said earlier, it was difficult to pick the top 5 and it was especially difficult to keep Demarco Murray out it. Based on Statistics Murray probably deserved to be on this list, but he had a very easy matchup vs Jacksonville. The other RB´s that deserve to be mentioned are all three of the Cleveland Browns running backs who combined  ran for 157  yards and 3 touchdowns on 48 carries.
