New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks was expected to be out 2-4 weeks with the broken thumb, but he will undergo surgery and is now expected to be out 4-6 weeks.

At first though, Brandin Cooks was only going to be out for 2-4 weeks with the broken thumb, but there is news out now that he will have surgery on the thumb and will be out 4-6 weeks.

That is going to be a big blow for the Saints. They are battling to get into the playoffs with their 4-6 record and are holding the top spot in the division. but this injury will take out their top wide receiver off of the roster.

Brandin Cooks has been the most dependable receiver on the team. Jimmy Graham is obviously Drew’s favorite target on offense, but with Cooks out, the team will miss his versatility on the roster. The team will have to trust in Robert Meachem, Nick Toon and Joe Morgan to pick up the slack while he is out. It should be a challenge for the Saints without Cooks on the field.

The team will also need to find someone to step up on special teams with Cooks out on the sideline.
